When you’re applying for a new job, do you proudly list the PA training courses you’ve attended or do you leave them till last, down at the bottom of the page?
The answer may be a bit of both.
CVs should, of course, be individually tailored to each new job application, taking account of the role’s responsibilities and the experience and qualities required. If you’ve taken courses that are relevant to your application, shout these from the rooftops! Say what new skills you acquired on the course and how these would relate to the new role.
And as well as saying you’ve attended a course to update your IT skills, remember that it’s just as important to say you’ve attended PA workshop in listening skills.
It may be that you’ve taken several courses and the ‘skills and experience’ section of your CV is growing out of control. If this is the case, focus on the main relevant ones and list the others at the end.
But please don’t leave them out altogether. Showing that you have regularly attended training days proves to a prospective employer how much value you place on your role and on your career.
